  • Learning objectives:
    The course aims to deepen some topics discussed in the basic course of Urban and Regional Geography. In particular, the course focuses on the functionalist urban geography, urban sustainability, smart cities, quality of urban life, urban forms, city network, urban policies. Furthermore, the question of urban poverty, immigration and residential segregation. At the end of the course the student will be able to carry out autonomous and advanced reflections on the chosen topic and will be able to discuss them both in written and oral form, also with iconographic and graphic representation 
  • Prerequisite:
    Students must have passed the Urban and Regional Geography exam 
  • Teaching methods:
    Students should contact the teacher to establish the topic of study. Once chosen the same, the professor will agree on the reference bibliography and will follow the student's research path. The research product will be a written project (a project work of about 20-30 pages) which will be subjected to periodic review by the teacher before the final draft. Before the examination, the final text must be delivered to the teacher; it will be evaluated based on criteria of originality, applied techniques, clarity and consistency of the content. Finally, the oral discussion of the delivered text will evaluate the correctness of the exposition and the argumentative capacity of the student. The evaluation will therefore be based on the research product and its exposure, according to an evaluation graduated as per current legislation. 
  • Exam type:
    Oral examination following the evaluation of individual writings, observing above all the characteristics of originality, coherence and accuracy of the text, while the oral examination will assess the correct and critical exposition. The expression is provided through marks expressed in thirtieths. It is possible to pass the examination with honours.
